Louisville Exec Wins Lighthouse Project Award

About the award

June 07, 2018

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Peggy Arthur, a commercial lines account executive in Louisville, Ky., is one of six recipients of the “Trustees of Inclusive Equity Award” from the Louisville Central Community Centers (LCCA).

Arthur, who led the Louisville agency’s Spirit-award winning Lighthouse Project last year, will receive the LCCA award at an inaugural fundraiser event on June 19 at the Old Walnut Street Atrium in Louisville. The celebration will feature honorees who have contributed to the community in the areas of diversity, inclusion, and equity.

"Equity and inclusion are essential to the economic vitality of the Russell neighborhood and west Louisville," said LCCA President and CEO Kevin Fields. "Our effort here is to acknowledge and celebrate members of our community who strive to create positive impact toward these important values."

The Louisville agency’s Lighthouse Project benefited the West End School, which provides free private schooling to at-risk, low-income boys from Pre-K to 8th grade. The school strives to address academic failure, truancy, school dropout, suspension, expulsions, delinquency and incarceration through its rigorous academic and personal standards.

The Lighthouse Project team served hot breakfast to all 125 students as well as teachers. After they finished their work, the team left behind a treasure trove of healthy, fresh food and an arsenal of non-perishable breakfast and snack items.

The celebration will be held on the “Juneteenth” Independence Day or Freedom Day – an American holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865, announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U.S., and more generally the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans throughout the former Confederacy of the southern United States.

Proceeds will benefit the mission and programs of LCCC, Inc., which is dedicated to empowering families, equipping youth, and strengthening a model of self-reliance and service to the Russell neighborhood, Muhammad Ali Boulevard Corridor, and all residents in the surrounding communities and the city at-large.

Tickets can be purchased at LouisvilleTickets.com(opens in a new tab) or by visiting LCCC at 1300 W. Muhammad Ali Boulevard in Louisville. Email dgrant@lcccnews.org or call (502) 583-8821 for more information.
